Kiara Advani is not only making waves for her acting prowess but also for her dedication to fitness. Known for her stunning performances and enviable physique, the Kabir Singh star often shares glimpses of her workout routines on social media. Among the many facets of her fitness regimen, one element that stands out is her choice of a pre-workout snack, which is both delicious and packed with nutritional benefits.

Choosing a pre-workout snack that not only fuels your energy but also satisfies your taste buds can be a challenge. However, Kiara’s snack of choice proves that you don’t have to compromise on either taste or nutrition. Any guesses what this snack might be?

Kiara lets the secret out: apples with peanut butter. In a video, she shares, “I wait for my 3:30 to 4 o’clock meal which is this.” If you’re contemplating whether to incorporate this snack into your diet, Dr Priyanka Rohatgi, chief nutritionist at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, highlights the numerous health benefits it offers.

1. Energy boost: Apples provide easily digestible carbohydrates, serving as a quick energy source for muscles during physical activity. These carbohydrates help maintain stamina and support an extended workout session.

2. Rich in fibre: The fibre in apples slows down digestion, ensuring a steady release of sugars into the bloodstream. This prevents sudden spikes and crashes in energy levels, promoting stable and sustained energy during the workout.

3. Healthy fats: Peanut butter contains healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats that sustain energy reserves. These fats help keep hunger at bay and contribute to stable energy levels throughout the workout.

4. Muscle repair and recovery: The protein in peanut butter assists with muscle repair and rebuilding after intense exercise. It also supports muscle gain and enhances overall workout recovery.

5. Immunity building: Vitamins and minerals in the pairing, such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E, magnesium, and potassium, contribute to immune function.

Despite these benefits, Dr Rohatgi cautions certain individuals to avoid this snack. “Anyone with a peanut allergy needs to avoid peanut butter entirely due to possibly life-threatening allergies. People managing diabetes also need to be extra cautious about the carbohydrate content from the apple and potential blood sugar impacts.” She added that those adhering to low-fat diets or experiencing gastrointestinal issues should also consider alternatives.

While this snack proves to be a nutritional powerhouse for many, personal dietary needs and potential sensitivities should be considered for the best fit in your pre-workout routine.
