Pomegranates come with a high nutritional profile, which makes them extremely healthy. They make a startling combination of minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants that strengthen immunity, lower inflammation, and support heart health. However, when we came across a post on Instagram suggesting that four tablespoons of pomegranates in the morning helps to reduce weight faster, and helps in hair growth, we wanted to explore more. “It also helps to increase memory power. Have it after breakfast,” the post read.

Consuming four spoonfuls of pomegranate daily is an “exaggerated claim” to make us believe that it will lead to twice-as-fast weight loss or substantial hair growth. “Sustainable results are rooted in a holistic lifestyle, including a balanced diet, physical activity, and overall well-being for optimal health benefits,” said Nupuur Patil, nutritionist, Nupuur Patil Fitness.

Dr Dilip Gude, senior consultant physician, Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad, there is no scientific evidence to support the claim that consuming four spoons of pomegranate daily in the morning will result in weight loss “two times faster” or significantly aid hair growth. “While pomegranates are a nutritious fruit with health benefits, making such specific and bold claims without robust scientific backing should be approached with caution,” said Dr Gude.
