James Anderson is arguably among the greatest bowlers in the modern era. With his ability to swing the new ball, he has bamboozled many top-class batters throughout his career. In his final Test against West Indies, he ended up with four wickets which took his tally in Test match cricket to 704 wickets.

Most wickets caught by wicket-keeper

The Lancashire bowler’s 249 wickets out of 704 have been caught behind by the keeper which is the most for any Test match bowler. He is also only behind Muttiah Muralitharan (167 times) for getting a bowler bowled most times which is 137 times.

second most fifers as a pacer

The 41-year-old has picked up 32-five wicket hauls in his career which is sixth most in the history of the game. Ahead of him is New Zealand fast bowler Sir Richard Hadlee who achieved the feat 36 times.

One among four to take 100

Anderson is one among four red-ball bowlers who have taken 100 wickets at a single venue. The Englishmen took 123 wickets from 29 games at Lords in London. The other three are Muralitharan (166 @ Colombo, 117 @ Kandy), Rangana Herath (111 @ Galle) and Stuart Broad (113 @ Lords).

Highest wicket-tacker as fast bowler

James Anderson with his 704 wickets is the highest wicket-tacker as pacer of all time. The pacer next on the list is Anderson’s English teammate Stuart Broad (604 wickets).

Second most Tests

Anderson has played 188 Tests which is the second highest in the history of the game. Only India’s Sachin Tendulkar is ahead of Anderson who has played 200 Tests.
