What Neeraj Chopra once revealed his ‘ideal partner’ to be

Social media has been abuzz with theories about a potential relationship between Olympic medallists Manu Bhaker and Neeraj Chopra, with some even hinting at marriage after a video showing a friendly interaction between Manu, her mother, and Neeraj at the Paris Olympics closing ceremony.

However, Manu’s father dismissed these claims, stating that she was too young for such commitments. “Manu is still very young. She is not even of marriageable age. Not even thinking about it right now,” Ram Kishan told Dainik Bhaskar.

Manu herself clarified the situation, emphasising that their interactions are limited to sporting events and that there’s no romantic connection between them. “I don’t know much about it. I was not there when this happened. But since 2018, we have been meeting on the sidelines of events. We don’t have that much interaction otherwise. During events, we talk a little. But there is no truth to the rumours that is going around,” she said on News18.

Amid this, an old video of Neeraj talking about his ideal partner has been going viral.

After winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and making history, the javelin star was featured in various magazines and shows. In one of these appearances on a reality show, Neeraj shared what he would want in an ideal partner.

During his appearance on Dance+ 6, Judge Shakti Mohan had asked him to do a mock proposal, in case he were to ever do it to a partner. Neeraj, in response to her, had said, “Meri life mein toh sabse zaruri javelin hai. Na achha khana banana aata hai, na main time de sakta hun. (Javelin is the most important thing in my life. Neither do I know how to make good food nor do I have the time to do that or give that to a partner.)”

One of the show’s judges then went on to ask Neeraj about how his dream partner would be, to which the athlete said, “Abhi toh aisa kuch nahi hai par main khiladi hun, agar vo bhi khiladi ho toh aur apne kaam pe focused ho. Respect ho ek dusre ki. Vo cheez bahaut zaroori hai. (I am a sportsperson so I would like if they were one too, and focused on their work. But what’s most important is that there should be mutual respect between us.)
