Sonam Kapoor calls Nancy Tyagi’s Cannes 20024 outfit ‘the best’: ‘Make me something…’

Among the many Indians making their debut at the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival is Nancy Tyagi, who has taken the fashion world by storm with her self-stitched outfits at the star-studded event.

And looks like the Barwana-born fashion influencer, whose videos of recreating celebrity outfits — including those of actors Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit Nene, and Deepika Padukone — catapulted her to fame, has found a new fan in actor Sonam Kapoor and her sister Rhea Kapoor.

After walking the red carpet in a ruffled pink gown, which took “30 days, 1000 meters of fabric, and weighed over 20kg”, Nancy is back in the news for her second look: a sari, with a twist.

Describing her first look on Instagram, she wrote: Stepping onto the red carpet at the 77th Cannes Film Festival as a debutant feels surreal. I poured my heart and soul into creating this pink gown, which took 30 days, 1000 meters of fabric, and weighs over 20kg. The journey has been intense, but every moment was worth it. I’m overwhelmed with joy and gratitude for the love and support from all of you. This is a dream come true, and I hope my creation dazzles you as much as your support has inspired me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

Her second outfit, a “saree featuring intricate hand embroidery”, was also created by her. “My second outfit from the Cannes Film Festival, which I wore at a special event, is another creation made entirely by me. This ensemble is a saree featuring intricate hand embroidery. Every piece was meticulously crafted and assembled by me,” she captioned her video on the social media platform, in which she can be seen traversing the lanes of Old Delhi’s cloth market to pick the fabric, and then working her magic on it.

As soon as she shared the look, many people lauded her efforts and congratulated her on her stunning debut. Among those were the Kapoor sisters — Sonam and Rhea. While the filmmaker commenter “Love it Nancy” on her reel, the actor re-shared the post and wrote: “Best outfit in Cannes… Make me something, @nancytyagi__”

That’s not all. The YouTuber responded to the Aisha actor’s request and wrote: “Thank you so much, @sonamkapoor. It would be amazing to create something special for you one day.” We cannot wait to see what magic she stitches up for the Bollywood diva.
