In the aftermath of another assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in Florida on Sunday, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk posted “no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala,” but later deleted the post.

Musk contended that his post was a joke and it was taken out of context but a major controversy erupted after the post. A user on X asked “Why they want to kill Donald Trump?,” and Musk responded, “And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala.”

The post by Musk drew larger condemnation as many questioned that he is a government contractor and making such a comment should be unacceptable. A few of them even called on the US Secret Service to investigate the matter.

A reminder that @elonmusk is a contractor for DOD and the US Govt and has said things that would have gotten anyone kicked out of the military. He needs to stop, or the govt needs to treat him equally to everyone else. Being rich doesn’t put you above the law. pic.twitter.com/WwN2opJX0j

One X user wrote, “This at the least demands a visit from the FBI and Secret Service.”

Former Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger posted on X, “A reminder that Elon Musk is a government contractor for DOD and US Govt and has said things that would have gotten anyone kicked out of the military. He needs to stop, or the govt needs to treat him equally to everyone else. Being rich doesn’t put you above the law.”

Musk made clarifications about his post after condemnation and questions being raised in the wake of gun violence and assassination attempts being made.

Well, one lesson I’ve learned is that just because I say something to a group and they laugh doesn’t mean it’s going to be all that hilarious as a post on 𝕏

Musk said, “Well, one lesson I’ve learned is that just because I say something to a group and they laugh doesn’t mean it’s going to be all that hilarious as a post on X.”

Further defending his post, Musk said “Turns out that jokes are WAY less funny if people don’t know the context and the delivery is plain text.”

This was the second assassination attempt on Republican presidential candidate Trump after he survived the first one in July during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

In the recent assassination bid, the US Secret Service confirmed that one or more of its agents “opened fire on a gunman” located near the boundary of the golf course which belonged to former President Trump.
