Debate moderator Linsey Davis faces racial, sexual abuse for fact-checking Trump

In what marked the first time Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump appeared in a debate head to head, the debate moderator Linsey Davis of ABC News has been subjected to racist and sexual abuse on social media.

The September 10 debate was being hosted by ABC News’ anchor Linsey Davis and she fact checked Republican candidate Donald Trump during the debate’s moderation.

It was enough for Trump’s supporters on the internet to troll Davis and reportedly give sexual abuses and racial discrimination online. Throughout the debate, it is being reported that Trump made multiple factually incorrect claims and Davis pointed him out on one of them.

During the discussion on abortion issue, Trump falsely stated that some states allow for the “execution” of babies after they are born. Davis corrected Trump and said “There is no state in this country where it is legal to kill a baby after it’s born.”

It gave an ammo to the troll army and Trump supporters on social media platform X who lashed out at Davis for countering the former President.

An X user trolled moderator Davis and wrote on X, “put a muzzle on your chick moderator.” Another user with close to 2,00,000 followers on X posted a photo of Davis and wrote, “Raise your hand if you think the ABC moderators for this Presidential Debate are biased against Donald Trump.”

The debate which is expected to turn the tide of voters’ mood has remained largely a tie between the two contenders of Democratic and Republican party, with Kamala Harris gaining some edge over Trump according to a Reuters report.
