Donald Trump warns Taylor Swift will ‘pay the price’ for endorsing Kamala Harris

Hours after Taylor Swift publicly endorsed Kamala Harris for US President, Republican candidate Donald Trump warned that the global star would “probably pay a price” for this.

Swift’s support for Harris emerged minutes after the televised presidential debate, where the Democratic candidate made her first appearance alongside Trump.

In an interview to Fox & Friends, Donald Trump dismissed Swift’s political stance, revealing he was “not a fan” of the pop star.

“I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time. She couldn’t possibly endorse Biden…,” Trump remarked. “But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she’ll probably pay a price for it […] in the marketplace.”

Trump also expressed a preference for Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, over Swift. “I like Brittany, she’s great,” Trump quipped. “Brittany made headlines last week and is a big MAGA supporter — she’s someone I prefer much more than Taylor Swift.”

“She’s a big Trump fan,” Trump said.

Brittany Mahomes first signalled her support for Donald Trump on August 13 by liking his Instagram post, outlining the “2024 GOP platform.” Following this, the swimsuit model addressed criticism on her Instagram Stories.

“Honestly, to be a hater as an adult, you must have some deep-rooted issues from childhood that you refuse to heal,” she wrote on Instagram Stories. “There’s no reason for a fully developed mind to dislike others for doing well.”

In a Tuesday Instagram post, Swift declared her vote for Harris and her running mate Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. She described Harris as a “steady-handed, gifted leader” and emphasised her belief that the country would achieve more under calm leadership rather than chaos.

Swift’s endorsement came as a response to encountering AI-generated images falsely attributing support to Trump, which she said heightened her concerns about misinformation. She urged her followers to “do your research” and shared a voter registration link on her Instagram “stories.”

Swift, who recently completed the European leg of her “Eras” tour, did not explicitly direct her fans to vote for Harris but affirmed her own informed choice. She also praised Walz for his longstanding advocacy on LGBTQ+ rights and women’s issues.

Swift’s endorsement adds to a growing list of celebrity support for Harris, with figures like Beyonce and Charli XCX also lending their influence to the campaign.
