On Tuesday, a video surfaced where protestors occupied the Hamilton’s Hall and displayed a white banner, renaming the hall as ‘Hind’s Hall’.

But who is Hind?

Hind Rajab was a six-year old girl who’s story came to light after a phone recording went viral on social media. The recording was the final moment of her interaction with her family before she was killed by the Israeli forces.

Hind and her family- her aunt, uncle and three cousins, attempted to flee the violence in Gaza when Israeli tanks reportedly targeted their car, resulting in the deaths of Hind’s relatives, leaving her as the sole survivor. Hindi’s mother and older sibling had set off on foot.

Desperately reaching out to emergency services, Hind’s calls for rescue spanned over three hours, with her call ending abruptly, as reported by BBC. Her last words were “I am so scared, please come.”

After Hind’s distress calls, the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) dispatched two paramedics to her aid. But, they too fell victim to the violence, as the ambulance was destroyed, killing the paramedics- Yusuf Al-Zeino and Ahmed Al-Madhoun, dead.

A Palestinian civil defense crew reached the incident area after twelve days, with Hind’s uncle Samir Hamada who found Hind’s family car, a black Kia, riddled with bullets. The charred ambulance layed 50 meters away from the car. According to the Red Crescent, Hind’s cause of death was gun firing and shelling.

While speaking to BBC, Hind’s mother said “For every person who heard my voice and my daughter’s pleading voice, yet did not rescue her, I will question them before God on the Day of Judgement.” “Netanyahu, Biden, and all those who collaborated against us, against Gaza and its people, I pray against them from the depths of my heart,” she said.

The PRCS has accused Israel of deliberately targeting the medical team, citing ongoing communication between the organization and the Israeli army in their efforts to evacuate Hind. However, the Israeli military has denied involvement in the attack, asserting that their forces were not in proximity to the vehicle at the time of the incident.
