Blackcaps v Australia: Tail frustrates NZ bowling attack on second morning at Wellington's Basin Reserve

Aussies Cameron Green and Josh Hazlewood have dug in to frustrate the Blackcaps on the second morning of the opening test at Wellington's Basin Reserve.

The home side had their rivals teetering at 279/9 overnight, but have been unable to break the substantial 10th-wicket partnership developing between the centurion and and tailender.

Australia reached 332/9 at drinks, with Green reaching 150 - his highest test score - soon after, clearing the boundary four times and finding the rope four more during the morning session. The last-wicket stand had realised 78 runs.

The trans-Tasman rivals finished the opening day on even terms, with Green the only batter to build on his start and Matt Henry the best of the NZ bowlers with 4/43.

Green and Hazlewood have wrestled that initiative towards the Aussies with their stubborn rearguard resistance.
