Cricket: Blackcap Tim Seifert takes screamer behind stumps in Pakistan Super League debut

Blackcaps whiteball specialist Tim Seifert has made an immediate impression on his arrival at Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League, taking a superb wicketkeeping catch in his debut.

Seifert joined his team only this week, after concluding his commitments with the NZ team against Australia last weekend.

Put into bat by Quetta Gladiators, Karachi accumulated 165/8 in their 20 overs, with Seifert scoring 21 runs off 11 balls as opening batter, sharing a 59-run partnership with Englishman James Vince.

He was in the action again with the gloves, when Quetta keeper Sarfaraz Ahmed top-edged Hasan Ali down fine leg and Seifert dove acrobatically to his left to snare a spectacular one-handed 'Superman' catch.

The dismissal reduced the Gladiators to 75/3 in the 10th over and they were in trouble three overs later, when they lost opener Jason Roy (52) and Rilee Rossouw (6) for 89/5.

Quetta eventually secured a five-wicket victory when Sherfane Rutherford clubbed 58 off 31 balls, sharing an unbeaten sixth-wicket stand of 80 runs with fellow West Indian Akeal Hosein.

Rutherford clinched the win with a four off the final ball.

Seifert and the Kings are back in action against tabletoppers Multan Sultans on Monday.
