Highest successful IPL run-chases: Rajasthan Royals equals record vs KKR in IPL 2024

The Indian Premier League (IPL) season has witnessed several high-scoring chases throughout 17 editions.

Rajasthan Royals recorded the highest successful run-chase in IPL history during the 2020 IPL season where they overhauled a 224-run target against the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in Sharjah. While the IPL 2024 season bore two 240-plus scores in the second innings, both teams ended up on the losing side.

On Tuesday, RR found themselves chasing another 224-run target, this time against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. KKR notched up a mammoth 223 in 20 overs after Sunil Narine smashed his maiden T20 hundred (109). In reply, Jos Buttler’s sensational unbeaten hundred helped RR equal the record in a last-ball win!

In the IPL 2021 season, Mumbai Indians scraped past Chennai Super Kings in a sensational 219-run chase, reaching the mark off the final ball of the chase in Delhi.

The ongoing season of the IPL has seen teams post numerous 250-plus scores with the Sunrisers Hyderabad recording the two highest scores ever in the IPL and T20 franchise cricket.
