Rohit Sharma plays 200th IPL match for Mumbai Indians

Rohit Sharma was handed a special shirt by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar before taking the field to play his 200th Indian Premier League match for Mumbai Indians against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Sharma who was replaced by Hardik Pandya as MI captain this season had scored 43 runs in their opening match against Gujarat Titans in a losing cause last Sunday.

Rohit who had made his IPL debut for the then Deccan Chargers in 2008 is playing his 245th match in the league with only MS Dhoni having played more matches than him with 252. The former Mumbai skipper has also played in 14 different editions of the tournament for the franchise and is the only player to achieve the feat for MI.

The Indian captain is also the all-time leading run getter for MI in the IPL, scoring over 5000 runs and was only the 2nd Indian after Tendulkar to score a IPL hundred for the Mumbai Indians.

Rohit has featured in 111 wins for Mumbai Indians, the most by any player for the franchise and has also been the captain in 87 of those wins, which is again a record for the franchise.

Rohit has 35 scores of 50+ for Mumbai Indians in the IPL and won 16 Player of the Match awards for the franchise, which again are the most by any MI player.

On Wednesday, Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL match.

SRH made a couple of changes, bringing in Travis Head for Marco Jansen, while Jaydev Unadkat replacing T Natarajan, who has a niggle.

MI made one change, handing Kwena Maphaka his IPL debut at the expense of Luke Wood Both teams are coming into the match after losing their respective openers.
