Twenty-five-year-old Krystyna Pyszková from the Czech Republic has been crowned as the 71st Miss World in Mumbai. After being crowned by the reigning Miss World Karolina Bielawska in an emotional moment, at the Jio Convention Centre, Pyszková described her win as a historic one.

“I am full of emotion, full of happiness, and full of excitement. I can’t wait to join the Miss World Organisation and to become the Beauty with a Purpose ambassador and to travel the world for a greater cause,” said Pyszková in an exclusive interview after the win with indianexpress.com.

Pyszková said the Czech Republic represents the “enchanting beauty of the culture, of nature”. “We have many beautiful historical places. We have the highest number of castles in all of Europe. So, there are many things to see and I can’t be more empowered to represent my beautiful Czech Republic,” Pyszková expressed.

Notably, the Miss World event has happened in India after a hiatus of 28 years.

Pyszková beat the likes of India’s Sini Shetty, Trinidad and Tobago’s Aché Abrahams, and Botswana’s Lesego Chombo.

Yasmina Zaytoun from Lebanon was awarded the first runner-up in the star-studded finale hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar and former Miss World Megan Young.

As the top eight contestants fly to Mauritius on Monday, Pyszková said “excitement” is palpable.

The model, who has been studying for two degrees in both Law and Business Administration, was seen wearing a garlate design gown from a Thai designer which was custom-made for her. “It was made for me by a Thai designer and I was so excited to work with him ever since the first time I saw his dresses. I wanted his work to be my final dress. So, I sent him ideas of what I have in mind. He created exactly what I wanted. So, I am very happy for that,” said Pyszkova, who is passionate about arts, and enjoys playing the Transverse flute and the violin.

Sharing her experience of being in India for the past month, Pyszková shared, “I absolutely love it in India. I need to say that all people are so welcoming, very helpful, so nice. I feel at home. It is very important for me because it enables me to give my best performance on the stage. Also, the culture is amazing. It is a very diverse country. I definitely learn a lot here. I would be very grateful if I could come back again to India.”

Considering beauty, fashion, and sustainability are intertwined, Pyszková, described that sustainability is a critical issue. “I think that is what we should all think about because that’s the key to solving many of our problems. I am trying to bring sustainability to my life too. So, on the Miss World stage, my national costume designer dress was made from recyclable materials with a new sparkle. So, I think that’s the way we should all go in,” shared Pyszková, who donned an Ardo dress designed by Sam Docle, a designer and the creative director of Miss Czech Republic and a stylist.

Notably, according to Miss World.com, the dress description by Dolce for Ardo describes it as a fusion of tradition and contemporary design. He was inspired by the folklore and traditions of Bohemia and Moravia, as well as the hobbies of Krystyna. “Krystyna is a passionate horsewoman and a lover of riding, horse racing, and all activities related to horses. The cut of the top part of the dress is inspired by equestrian fashion and accessories by the leading Czech milliner Jolana Kotábová underlining the classic lines of the model. The material from which the dress is made also comes from this environment,” the website states.

It further states that the rich hand embroidery inspired by Wallachian and Slovak folklore patterns decorating the fabric from which the model is made attracted the designer so much that it was the inspiration for the entire final look. “It was until recently an antique blanket used as a cover when moving pampered stallions to protect them from bad weather. Thanks to a new use, the same patterns can now accentuate the grace surpassing the beauty of the horse,” it reads.

Turning gears, Pyszková advocated the need for women and young girls to assume agency. Pyszková told indianexpress.com, “My message to young girls is that you need to trust yourself if you want to achieve things because when I was younger, I didn’t really trust myself. When I just realised that it is all about your mindset, and how you talk to yourself, it helped me develop the winner’s mindset to mean that you can achieve anything.”
