Manoj Pahwa praises Akshay Kumar’s commitment to fitness: ‘It’s not easy’

Post At: Sep 06/2024 05:10PM

Akshay Kumar is known to be extremely disciplined in terms of work, fitness, and diet. Shedding light on the same is his Singh is Kinng co-actor Manoj Pahwa who said that working with Khiladi Kumar was a “learning experience” for him.

“We were in Australia for a month during the shoot of Singh is Kinng. We partied almost every day. Akshay Kumar used to come and sit for some time. He, of course, never drinks. But at 7.45 pm sharp, his trainer used to come with his food. Around 8.30 pm, he used to leave as he is used to sleeping at 9.15-9.30 pm. He gets up at 4 am to work out for 2-2.5 hours. It’s not easy. It was a learning experience for me,” Pahwa shared.

He also praised actors like Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Anushka Sharma who, he said, follow a “restricted diet”, and work out even after a 4 am pack-up. “They go straight to the gym instead of eating and sleeping. That is incredible,” Pahwa told Hindi Rush.

Let’s understand the benefits of such a lifestyle.

Experts stress that enjoying quiet, distraction-free time early morning allows one to focus better. Consequently, developing good habits is essential to maintaining optimal health and managing blood sugar levels especially when you have a gruelling schedule, said Dr Rajiv Kovil, head of diabetology, Zandra Healthcare and co-founder, Rang De Neela initiative.

Apart from engaging in activities that increase heart rate — such as brisk walking, swimming, or dancing — one must aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercises per week. “Incorporate resistance exercises into your routine two to three times per week. This can include lifting weights or performing bodyweight exercises like push-ups and squats. Strength training helps improve muscle strength, and metabolism,” said Dr Kovil.

Further, mindful portion control can help you stay energetic. “Use measuring cups or a food scale to accurately portion your meals,” suggested Dr Kovil.

Incorporating various nutrient-rich foods into your meals including proteins, whole grains, fats, and plenty of vegetables can benefit the body and aid metabolism. “Aim to create balanced meals that include a combination of carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats,” said Dr Kovil.
