Benefits for acidity issues during pregnancy

*High fibre content: Both jowar and foxtail millet are rich in dietary fibre, which helps in improving digestion and preventing acid reflux by ensuring smooth bowel movements.

*Alkaline nature: These grains have an alkaline nature, which can help neutralise stomach acid and reduce acidity issues.

*Nutrient-rich: They are packed with essential nutrients such as magnesium, calcium, and B vitamins, which are important for overall health during pregnancy and can help maintain a balanced digestive system.

*Gluten-free: Being naturally gluten-free, jowar and foxtail millet are less likely to cause digestive issues compared to gluten-containing grains, making them easier on the stomach, said Jayaswal.

*Low glycemic index: Both jowar and foxtail millet have a low glycemic index, which helps in regulating blood sugar levels and can prevent spikes in insulin, thereby aiding in weight management.

How to incorporate jowar and foxtail millet into your diet

*Soups and stews: Add these grains to soups and stews to enhance their nutritional value and make them more filling.

*Breads and rotis: Substitute wheat flour with jowar or foxtail millet flour to make healthier bread, rotis, or flatbreads.
