Katrina Kaif’s commitment to staying fit and flexible is well-known. It is also public knowledge that the Phone Booth actor is extremely particular about her diet and lifestyle. Now, Katrina Kaif’s ‘go-to nutritionist’ Shweta Shah has opened up about her diet and how the star understands her body too well.

“I have seen that she observes her body a lot, and understands it well. She doesn’t blindly follow you or what the internet is saying. She is someone who wants an answer to everything. She understands food as medicine, the qualities of food, and what impact it has on her body. Since she knows her body well, she only comes to me and asks for certain alternatives, like iron source or which juices to have,” Shah said in a conversation with yoga trainer Shlloka.

The celebrity nutritionist added, “She loves Ayurveda and even follows a few self-care rituals like oil pulling, shatpavali (100 steps after lunch and dinner), nasal cleansing and all.”

Recalling her experience of working with Katrina, Shah said that she has a pita body. “So, we have to give her cooling foods. To date, she has black raisins, and chews fennel seeds; ash gourd juice is compulsory for her. If that is not available, then mint coriander and amla juice it is. She only has two meals a day and is not someone who eats every two hours. She sticks to ghar ka khaana, and carries it with her. She is someone who will eat the same kind of food,” shared Shah, adding that the actor sleeps and wakes up early.

But what happens to the body when you just eat two meals a day?

By eating two meals a day, your body’s digestive system and nutrient absorption are at an optimal level and also align with the holistic principles of Ayurveda for maintaining well-being, said Dr Pradeep Shrivastava, ayurvedic expert, Krishna’s Herbal and Ayurveda.

He added that according to the Ayurvedic way of intermittent fasting, eating two meals a day has numerous benefits for the body. “A 6-hour gap or more between meals gives your body the time to fully digest, absorb, and assimilate nutrients before eating the next meal. Consider consuming the first meal a little late in the morning so that it provides essential fuel for daily activities. This timing ensures that the body has completed its nocturnal detoxification process and is ready to receive nourishment,” shared Dr Shrivastava.

You can consider having the second meal early evening, allowing sufficient time for digestion before sleep, thus preventing the accumulation of “Ama” or toxins or undigested food. “Eating two times a day not only helps improve metabolic flexibility but also reduces dependency on carbohydrates and enhances the ability to utilise stored energy, such as body fat, for energy needs,” said Dr Shrivastava.

However, it’s important to note that individual results may vary, and a balanced diet and regular exercise are key components of any weight management plan.
