Influencer’s remedy on Deepika Padukone’s beach tan picture goes viral: ‘Actually works…’

Influencer Prabhkirat Kaur had no idea that her comment on Deepika Padukone‘s beach tan picture would amass more than 10k views! Recall that the mom-to-be had flaunted her back tan while on a babymoon with husband-actor Ranveer Singh. The couple is expecting their first child in September.

Wondering what had Kaur written? Well, it was a remedy for the Kalki actor’s visible tan. “Besan+ aloe vera gel+ curd + masoor dal laga lo,” Kaur wrote.

We are not sure whether DP tried it, but another beauty influencer, Deepika Rani Sahu, did and loved the results.

Thank you very much @influencedbyprabhkirat. I got my DIY tan removal pack that actually works, wrote Sahu.

Sahu further wrote that masoor dal‘s exfoliating properties help get rid of dead and pigmented skin cells. “Mixing masoor dal with curd enhances its tan-removing effect. On the other hand, aloe vera gives a soothing effect to your skin and treats sunburn,” she added.

As always, we reached out to an expert to know if it really works for all skin types.

People with sensitive, acne-prone or oily skin, and skin diseases like eczema, psoriasis, hives, and rosacea should avoid applying this DIY mask on their faces, said Dr Rinky Kapoor, consultant dermatologist, cosmetic dermatologist and dermato-surgeon, The Esthetic Clinics. “It can cause problems like skin irritation, breakouts, allergic reactions, adult acne, pimples, inflammation, and increased skin sensitivity,” Dr Kapoor told indianexpress.com.

Individuals should understand that it is impossible to remove or reduce the visibility of tan in one day, urged Dr Kapoor. “It’s a continuous process and might take a week or more for effective results. Tanning happens when your skin is exposed to harmful UV (ultraviolet) rays for prolonged hours. You can effectively prevent the risk of tanning by regularly applying a generous layer of sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more for better coverage and protection,” said Dr Kapoor.

Do not forget to reapply sunscreen every 2 to 3 hours to prevent sunburn. “Apply an adequate amount of SPF to exposed skin or areas like the face, behind the ears and neck, arms, back, top of the feet, hands, and chest,” added Dr Kapoor.

Remember to wear appropriate clothing such as long sleeve t-shirts during peak hours to safeguard yourself from harmful UV rays. Consult your doctor or expert to discuss your concerns related to tanning and effective ways to reduce it. “They can also help you choose the best sunscreen according to your skin type and texture for better results,” shared Dr Kapoor.
