Sonakshi Sinha opted for a classic red Banarasi sari with a golden border for her wedding reception to Zaheer Iqbal, a departure from the traditional lehenga. The sari by the label Raw Mango, featured a “chand buta” (crescent moon) motif and was crafted from handwoven silk brocade.

Sonakshi paired the bold red sari with a matching blouse and kept her accessories minimal. A traditional middle-parted bun with white flowers, a small red bindi, red bangles, an emerald gold necklace set and a subtle lip colour completed her elegant look.

What captured our fancy was Sonakshi’s choice to wear alta on her hands, instead of the traditional mehendi, which lent a vibe of old-world glamour to her look. The exquisite sari borrows from the brand’s textile archives in the 18th century and is priced at Rs 79,800, also available online on their website in various colours.

The actor posed with her husband Zaheer Iqbal, who was dressed in a 3-piece ivory bandhgala set, which complemented her look well. The newlyweds arrived at the party venue walking hand-in-hand, posing happily for the cameras.

Sonakshi’s simple look marked a continuation of her wedding day choice, where she donned her mother’s vintage chikankari sari for the civil ceremony which was attended by close friends and family. The reception, on the other hand, was a glittering affair, with Bollywood A-listers gracing the occasion in their sartorial best.
