Akshay Kumar is known to lead a disciplined life with a set routine. But if going by his physique, you think he hits the gym as soon as he wakes up — you are highly mistaken. On the contrary, he likes to take it slow and spend time with himself in the mornings. “I think every person should wake up early because it is the best time to be alone. You can get 2-2.5 hours for yourself when the spouse is sleeping, or the children are asleep. It’s not as though I wake up and start exercising. I wake up, I laze around, go to the garden. There is a sea. I go to the seashore. I take a walk. I talk to myself,” said Kumar, in a conversation with Shikhar Dhawan on his show Dhawan Karenge.

Adding that he values this time, he continued: “There are times when I look up and ask a question. This is a great time for me. Those two hours are the best. That is meditation for me. I do not meditate otherwise. My routine is my meditation. Reflecting within. For me, that is my true meditation,” said Kumar.

As such, let’s understand the positive effects of being an early riser and spending time with the self amidst nature.

Spending time with oneself in the morning is crucial for connecting with your inner self. “The powerful activation that happens in the morning prepares you for the day and helps build your connection to yourself. Listening to your inner self helps you go a long way in life,” Shraddha Subramanian, intuition expert, business coach, and founder of Sparkling Soul.

According to Subramanian, it is easy to tune into yourself when the world is a bit quieter. This is what makes having a morning routine a game-changer.

“Tapping into your intuitions and your internal guidance is the most sacred, powerful, intentional, and expanded way of living. It helps to generate ideas to live fully, know oneself, and thrive using one’s potential,” shared Subramanian.

The intuition coach explained having a morning ritual not only makes you feel energised but also helps you stay “sane in the fast-moving world where only logic rules”.

“For me, morning time with myself is a magical space which allows me to embrace my world with ease, compassion, creation and connection not only with myself but with everyone around me leading to beautiful ways of expression for me as a human being, a coach and an entrepreneur,” shared Subramanian.
