The Mexican festival of Cinco De Mayo is coming to Delhi; know all about it

New Delhi is gearing up to host Cinco De Mayo, a week-long celebration of Mexican culture, and cuisine. The festival is being organised in collaboration with the Embassy of Mexico in the capital.

The 5-star hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi is hosting the vibrant fiesta at its Nero Bar, from May 6th to 12th, 2024, offering guests an immersive experience in the heart of Mexico.

“This event serves as a wonderful platform to share the essence of Mexican culture and cuisine with the people of New Delhi. We encourage everyone to come and experience the warmth and vibrancy of Mexico through this delicious and festive occasion,” Federico Salas, the Ambassador of Mexico to India, said.

Cinco de Mayo, observed annually on May 5th, commemorates Mexico’s historic victory over the Second French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza.

This special event is part of Le Meridien, New Delhi’s ongoing “+1 Celebrating Flavours of the Globe” campaign, a week-long culinary exploration highlighting international cuisines under the hotel’s annual “+1 for the Leap Year” initiative.

Guests can embark on a delectable journey through Mexico, from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. throughout the week, savouring a specially curated menu with authentic dishes bursting with flavour. To complement the culinary delights, a selection of Mexican-inspired tequila cocktails will be crafted, promising to transport guests to the heart of a lively fiesta.
