It has become a signature hit among her circle, which includes stars like Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Karan Johar and Malaika Arora, who have not only enjoyed the dish but have also shared their love for it publicly. However, in the modern day when most of the people are busy, this quick, protein packed, and gluten-free recipe is enough to satisfy everyone’s palates. Khan also discloses, “The key to creating a delicious yakhni pulao is to cook all the ingredients in dahi (curd) instead of water.” She reiterates this in her own YouTube video as well.

In the 9-minute-long video, Khan jokes that this secret recipe was only shared with Shetty, who has made a lot of money by using it. Traditionally, Yakhni pulao is prepared with mutton, but her house help Dilip makes a tiny slip-up by getting chicken from the market instead . However, she quickly looks at the bright side as she reminds herself that chicken cooks faster than mutton, which makes it convenient for her.

The real cherry on top, however, was the heartwarming reactions from her celebrity friends on beginning this new journey. Shetty couldn’t contain her joy, commenting on Instagram, “Ha ha ha. Love your Yakhni but love you more.” One of her closest friends, director Karan Johar, congratulated her albeit in a humorous way. In a story shared on Instagram he wrote, “I am so exceptionally excited about your YouTube channel! You are a one woman show… and this is going to ROCK! (but promise me you will run your wardrobe by me before every shoot).”

Many noticed the funny reaction of Dilip, who didn’t seem to like her yakhni pulao when she served it him. Malaika Arora, shared that she’s a fan of Dilip, with television producer Ekta Kapoor adding, “This is sooooooo funny.” Choreographer Geeta Kapoor mentioned that she felt “right at home” while watching the video. Raveena Tandon wished Khan all the best with her channel and wrote “maza aa gaya (this was fun).”

So far, the clip has amassed 40,000 views and over 11,000 people have subscribed to her channel. She also provided a glimpse of the video to her followers on Instagram as well, where it was equally well-received.

With such a warm reception and steadily growing viewership, her journey promises good times to her fans and viewers, blending her passion for food with her charismatic personality. Who knows what delicious secrets she’ll reveal next?

Ingredients

*1 kg chicken

*2 sliced onions

*2 diced potatoes

*1 teaspoon garam masala, preferably freshly-made

*2 tablespoons oil

*1 teaspoon cumin seeds

*1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste

*2-3 sliced green chillies

*Salt

*1.5 cups rice

*500 gm cup curd

Method

*Slice your onions into thin and small pieces.

*Peel and cut your potatoes, do not dice them into small pieces

*In a blender add garam masala and dried chillis and blend them into a fine powder.

*Add oil to the pressure cooker. Once the oil is hot, add cumin seeds and green chillies.

*Add sliced onions and cook them until they turn golden brown.

*Next mix ginger-garlic paste and chicken. Let the juices secreted by the meat cook everything instead of adding water. Close the pressure cooker lid and wait for two whistles. If you are cooking mutton, wait for four whistles for the meat to cook.

*Once cooked, open the lid and add the soaked basmati rice, potatoes, curd, garam masala, and salt.

*Close the lid again and wait for four whistles. Now turn off the flame and wait for a few minutes. If you are making yakhni pulao with mutton, turn off the flame after six to seven whistles.
