Italian fashion mogul Roberto Cavalli passed away at 83 due to a prolonged illness, his company said in a statement. This demise came as a shock to his followers and fans, many of whom took to social media to share their tributes.

Over the years, Cavalli, best known for working with animal prints, has dressed many celebrities including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, and Sonam Kapoor — with whom he had a special connection.

Kapoor, a bona fide style icon, has been spotted in his bespoke creations on many occasions, including magazine covers, and has even said that his creations are “stylish and gorgeous”.

But it’s not just the Aisha actor, the designer too heaped praise on the Bollywood diva, by calling her one of the most beautiful women in India.

Sonam is one of the most beautiful women in India and the most promising actress of her generation, her natural elegance and amazing body embodies perfectly my designs. It was for me an obvious choice to invite her and arrive with her at my first boutique opening in India, as we have such a privileged and beautiful relationship,” Cavalli said in a statement, reported PTI.

The designer’s association with the Kapoor beauty goes back to 2007 when she was a special guest at the launch of Cavalli’s flagship store and cafe in Delhi.

Every year at Cannes, Kapoor is the only one who attends Cavalli’s most talked about party.

Recall back in 2011, Kapoor wore a Roberto Cavalli shimmery dress at a private dinner on The Cavalli Yacht during the 64th Cannes Festival. Cavalli’s sensibilities resonated well with Kapoor’s own style, making her one of the celebrated figures in his stunning outfit.

Cavalli was born in Italy’s Florence which is a city known for its rich history of art and aesthetics.
