A 28-year-old man onboard a Qantas flight from Bali to Melbourne was pinned down by cabin crew for disruptive behaviour midair early Sunday, reported local media.

A video released by Australia-based Nine News showed a man screaming aggressively while the flight was midair and lashing out at one of the female flight attendants before he was tackled to the floor of the cabin by a group of other passengers.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the incident occurred on a flight that departed Denpasar on Saturday night and landed in Melbourne just before 7 am local time on Sunday. Australian Federal Police (AFP) boarded the flight on arrival at its destination and questioned the man, following which he was taken for a medical assessment, said the report, adding that the AFP said that while no charges have been laid at this stage, investigations will continue.

A witness who was on the flight told The Sydney Morning Herald described it as a “scary” experience. “Everybody was just resting and all of a sudden, this guy jumped out and he started screaming and everybody was panicking. Three or four passengers were taking him down and keeping him on the floor and that happened throughout all the flight until we touched down in Melbourne,” Norman Pires De Silva said.

Qantas later issued a statement highlighting that the airline has zero tolerance towards disruptive behaviour. “The safety of our customers and our crew is our number one priority and we have zero tolerance for disruptive or threatening behaviour,” a Qantas spokesperson told the Sydney Morning Herald.
