Lebanon based Hezbollah militant group has blamed Israel for the series of pager blasts across the country, and has stated that Israel will get ‘its fair punishment’, according to a statement released by the group on Tuesday.

The statement further added, “This treacherous and criminal enemy will certainly receive its just punishment for this sinful aggression, whether it expects it or not,” according to a BBC report.

The militant group has directly blamed Israel in the blasts and added that Tel Aviv is “fully responsible for this criminal aggression that also targeted civilians”.

The Lebanon based militant group also reiterated its support for Palestine and its resistance for its sovereignty amid the ongoing Israel-Palestine war, which has continued for the past 11 months.

The Israel military has not commented upon the blasts and has neither reacted to the allegations being leveled by Hezbollah group. However, Israel has repeatedly warned that it is possible that they might launch a military operation to clear its border areas from Hezbollah.

The Lebanese health ministry has stated that at least eight people have been killed and more than 2,750 are injured by a spree of pager explosions across the country. The device in which the blast took place is used by Hezbollah for communications purposes.

The health ministry of Lebanon further added that a child is also dead among the deceased and 200 people are seriously hurt and require surgery.

A senior Hezbollah source has told news agency Reuters that the militant group’s chief Nasrallah was not harmed in the blasts. And according to Iran’s Fars news agency, Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, was slightly injured in the blasts.

The ABC News quoted Fars news agency about Amani’s injury and said, “Amani has a superficial injury and is currently under observation in a hospital.”
