A protester was arrested and charged for making threatening remarks against California Mayor Karen Goh and members at a Bakersfield City Council meeting for not supporting a ceasefire resolution against Israel, FoxNews reported.

The protester, identified as Riddhi Patel, during a council meeting, referring to those who observe Chaitra Navratri festival, said, “I remind you that these holidays that we practice, that other people in the global south practice, believe in violent revolution against their oppressors, and I hope one day somebody brings a guillotine and kills all of you (expletive)”

In another half of her speech, she threatened to kill the Bakersfield council members and Goh. She said, “You guys want to criminalize us with metal detectors. We’ll see you at your house, we’ll murder you.”

28-year-old Patel has been charged with 16 felony counts for her remarks made inside the meeting on Wednesday night. She was booked into jail on suspicion of eight counts of threatening with intent to terrorize and another eight counts of threatening certain city officials during her comments on enhanced security at the meetings, Bakersfield reported.

Soon after Patel ended her speech, city Mayor Goh said, “Ms. Patel, that was a threat, what you said at the end,” Goh said. “And so, the officers are going to escort you out and take care of that.”

According to a report in the Bakersfield, Patel has been held at Lerdo jail in lieu of $2 million bail.
