A video showing nurses rushing to hold still the cots of newborn babies in a Taiwan hospital during the earthquake on Wednesday has now gone viral on social media.

As a 7.2-magnitude quake hit the island nation, four nurses of a Taipei hospital rushed to the incubators in a neonatal unit and pulled together around 10 cots as the tremors continued.

As per BBC, the staff were worried that a window nearby might break and injure the babies.

Rescuers searched Thursday for missing people and worked to reach hundreds stranded, even as the toll in the nation’s worst quake climbed to 10 and injuries to 1,000.

Of the 10 dead, at least four were killed inside Taroko National Park, a tourist attraction famous for canyons and cliffs in mountainous Hualien County about 150 kilometres from Taipei. One person was found dead in a damaged building and another was found in the Ho Ren Quarry. Rescuers also recovered the body of a man, who had severe wounds on his head, from a hiking trail.

Hundreds of people were stranded when rocks and mud blocked the roads leading to their hotels, campgrounds or work sites — though most were safe while they awaited rescue. It was not clear Thursday if any people were still trapped inside the buildings.
