MAGA influencer Jackson Hinkle is mourning the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, saying that the assassination is further proof that "Israel is a terrorist state.."

"First, the ZIONISTS killed Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh's grandchildren (pictured below). Then, they killed his children. Then, they killed Haniyeh himself," Hinkle wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter, alongside images of the leader's grandchildren. "Israel is a terrorist state."

Hamas said Wednesday that Haniyeh was killed in an overnight Israeli strike on the Iranian capital Tehran, a major development that is could throw the war in Gaza into a new phase. Haniyah, who has been the political leader of the group since 2017 and one of its most visible figures since Hamas' October 7 attack on Israel, was key in the ongoing ceasefire and hostage release negotiations.

Hinkle, a former "Bernie Bro" who later became a supporter of Donald Trump, has cultivated his social media persona around international affairs, focusing on the war in Ukraine and the conflict in Gaza. But it wasn't until the later that his following really began to take off. Since October 7, Hinkle has amassed over 2 million new followers on X, where he's well-known for sharing incendiary posts in support of Hamas. Meanwhile, he's been kicked off YouTube, Twitch and Instagram for those same kinds of remarks.

Hinkle's not the only MAGA influencer morning the Hamas leader's death. The war in Gaza has led to a rise in anti-Israel MAGA influencers.

Morgan Ariel, who was fired by conservative youth group Turning Point USA earlier this year for her antisemitic posts, also responded to the death of Haniyeh in a similar tone, writing on X Wednesday, "They killed his children and grandchildren" and "Israel is a satanic country filled with the seed of satan." Ariel has more than 60,000 followers on the platform.

TPUSA cut ties with Ariel in January after she equated Jews with pedophiles in a series of online posts. The group previously defended its decision to Newsweek, saying that, "Free speech cuts both ways. When an ambassador ceases to represent our values, especially when that pattern holds over time, we have the right and responsibility to make a change."

The anti-Israel sentiment has sparked a divide within MAGA and conservative movements. Although Republicans have long presented a more united front in their support of Israel than Democrats, there is growing sympathy for Palestinians among those on the right. Major GOP figures, like former President Donald Trump and Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, however, have still vowed to stand with Israel.

Haniyeh's death has been seen as a significant blow to Hamas amid the war. His death is the second report of a Hamas leader assassination. Hezbollah's most senior military commander, Fu'ad Shukr, was reportedly killed Tuesday in a strike in Beirut, Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces said. Hamas has not yet confirmed his death.

Hamas officials warned Wednesday that Haniyeh's death would "not pass in vain" and called it a "grave escalation," while Iran's Supreme Leader said it is "our duty to ask for the blood of our dear guest."
