A son of top Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, who the group said has been killed in an Israeli attack in Iran early Wednesday, has vowed Palestinians "will fight until freedom is achieved."

Abdul Salam Haniyeh said that his father had "strived for the unity of all Palestinian factions," Al Jazeera reported.

Hamas had said on Tuesday that Haniyeh had been assassinated by Israel while in Tehran with some reports suggesting he had been killed in an air strike.
