Footage shared on social media shows the latest fire to hit a facility in Russia believed to be linked to the logistics of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Since the start of the war, military sites, factories and depots across Russia have caught fire amid claims of sabotage either from partisans or Ukraine, although Kyiv seldom claims direct responsibility.

In the latest unexplained incident, a clip was posted on Telegram channels, including that of Ukraine's armed forces, showing flames and smoke coming from a site on Otkrytoye Road in Moscow, located about 10 miles northeast of the Kremlin, on Sunday night.

The building is the site of a company called "the Moscow factory of specialized vehicles" and according to its website it makes transportation equipment, including commercial trailers, vans and tow trucks.

"A fire at a factory of specialized cars," the Ukrainian military channel posted, adding that it was burning an area of more than 10,000 square feet and was "actively spreading."

After midnight local time, the fire had spread to cover more than 21,000 square feet and required 150 firefighters and 50 pieces of equipment, according to Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry, which Newsweek has contacted for comment.

"A large fire has started at a specialized automotive factory in the east of Moscow," was the post by the video on X (formerly Twitter) by Maria Drutska, who works in the Ukrainian foreign affairs sector.

Another clip taking from an apartment block further away shows black smoke billowing into the sky as a child expressed his shock at the scene.

Russian state news agency Tass reported that the fire had been extinguished and that there were no casualties. Newsweek has contacted the factory for comment.

Last week, footage shared on social media showed a significant fire at the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant which was placed under U.S. sanctions because it built and maintained main battle tanks, armored fighting vehicles and self-propelled artillery systems.

The clip from the site in central Russia located near the the border with Kazakhstan, showed a large fireball erupting from fire and smoke over the facility.

Closer to the frontline, footage released at the start of November showed the moment of an explosion by an ammunition depot of Russia's armed forces located in the Novoazovsk district in the Moscow-occupied Donetsk region of Ukraine.

A huge fireball could be seen at the site around 30 miles from Mariupol, the city besieged by Russian forces for three months in 2022. Some observers noted that the blast could have been caused by an attack by the U.S.-supplied Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS), although this has not been confirmed.
