Stephen King is becoming more vocal on social media, often sharing his insight and opinions, on X, formerly Twitter.

The horror author has recently aired his grievances with Donald Trump regarding the former president's ongoing legal battle and his run for the White House again. This has riled up Republican users of the social-media platform. Now, King's latest post has angered them once more after he spoke out about the United States' support for Ukraine. Newsweek has reached out to Stephen King's manager via email on Friday for comment.

Russian President Vladimir Putin began a military invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the most significant military conflict and refugee crisis in Europe since World War II. The U.S and other countries have offered humanitarian support and resources to the country since late 2022.

Republicans in the U.S. Senate blocked a supplemental funding bill on Wednesday in a procedural vote that included aid for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. The $61 billion package would have provided military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Before the Senate's vote, President Joe Biden's administration announced an aid package for Ukraine that would provide up to $175 million of arms and equipment.

King shared his thoughts online after this decision was announced: "Repubs block aid to the Ukraine. Putin loves them." His short but clear message posted on December 7 had been viewed over 1.2 million times by social-media users when this article was published.

In support, a social-media user added, "Sad, but true," with another commenting: "Republicans and Conservatives want Russia to run Europe. These are dark times."

However, King faced criticism as an X user posted: "If Stephen King loves Ukraine so much he should go there. America needs to take care of itself. Biden has ruined the economy, abandoned our border, and started multiple wars. He's also a criminal. So yeah — we got to clean up the mess here at home."

Another wrote: "If you want funding for Ukraine so bad, then why don't you donate your millions then? Americans are fed up paying for Ukraine's border while Joe Biden leaves ours open."

A third added: "Ukraine doesn't deserve a dollar more until our own border is secure and closed. You mean Republicans love America more than other countries. There I fixed it for you and I thought you were the genius writer."

Other quips aimed at the author included: "Stop gaslighting us" and "It's not our war."

Some of King's other online stands against Elon Musk, Kari Lake and Marjorie Taylor Greene have also gathered much attention and many online repercussions.
