NATO Aircraft Scrambled During Long-Range Russian Missile Strikes

NATO aircraft were scrambled after Russia launched long-range missile attacks on Ukraine overnight on Friday.

Poland's military announced early Friday that "intense long-range aviation activity of the Russian Federation is observed, related to missile strikes against objects located in the territory of Ukraine."

Writing on X, formerly twitter, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces added: "All necessary procedures to ensure the safety of Polish airspace have been launched, and DO RSZ is monitoring the situation on an ongoing basis.

"On-duty aircraft have started operating in the airspace, which may result in increased noise levels, especially in the south-eastern part of the country."

It later announced that due to a "reduced level of threat," the operations of the on-duty aircraft in Polish airspace were ended and the resources returned to standard operational activities.

Newsweek has contacted the Polish Armed Forces for comment.
