Namibia batter Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton broke the recorded for the fastest men’s T20I hundred against Nepal in the Nepal Tri-Nation T20I series on Tuesday.

The left-hander walked in during the 11th over with his team in a spot of bother at 62 for three. Loftie-Eeaton then waltzed through the Nepal bowling attack, plundering 11 fours and eight sixes en route his unbeaten 101 off 36 deliveries.

Loftie-Eaton reached the century in just 33 deliveries, eclipsing the previous record held by Nepal’s Kushal Malla during a match against Mongolia in the Asian Games last year. India captain Rohit Sharma has the joint-quickest T20I hundred in 35 balls along with David Miller.

Loftie-Eaton’s swashbuckling hundred powered Namibia to 206 for four in 20 overs. He was involved in a 135-run stand for the fourth wicket before falling in the final over of the innings. This was the southpaw’s first 50-plus score in T20Is and just his second fifty-plus in all T20Is.

Namibia secured a 20-run win over the hosts despite quickfire knocks from skipper Rohit Paudel and Dependra Airee. The 22-year-old Loftie-Eaton also picked up two wickets for 29 runs across three overs and was adjudged the Player of the Match.

Loftie-Eaton made his T20I debut in 2021 against Uganda, featuring in 33 matches since while amassing over 200 runs and eight wickets.
