Black Ferns Sevens have sealed their place in the quarter-finals of the Vancouver leg of the World Series with an emphatic 43-5 win over Ireland on Sunday (NZ time).

The result cements first place in Pool A for the defending world champions, after earlier victories over Brazil and South Africa.

The New Zealanders immediately took control of the contest when Shiray Kaka snuck down the blindside off a close-range scrum in the opening minute.

That set the tone for the rest of the half, as Michaela Blyde's try was complemented by Risi Pouri-Lane's double strike to blow the scoreline out to 22-0 at halftime.

Ireland had to score first in the second half and they did, Beibhinn Parsons showing Portia Woodman-Wickliffe a clean set of heels on the outside.

Blyde burst clear shortly afterwards for her second of the match, before Tysha Ikenasio and Jorja Miller added exclaimation marks to an impressive performance.

They'll play their quarter-final at 1:17pm against an opponent yet to be confirmed.

All Blacks Sevens bounced back from their defeat to South Africa on day one to topple Ireland to remain in contention for the knockout rounds.

They'll face Great Britain in their final match of pool play at 9:43am.
