Mohammed Siraj’s hilarious account of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s boundary show in Rajkot: ‘I was taking a massage…will go and see it now’

On a day where England started out as favorites, India finished in firm control of the third Test in Rajkot, in large part thanks to the batting antics of Yashasvi Jaiswal. Only playing his seventh Test for India, the swashbuckling southpaw has started out with a balanced act but soon shifted gears to take the attack to the visitors.

Scoring a sensational ton, Jaiswal smothered five sixes and as many fours in a space of six overs in the last session of the day to put the Indians in the driving seat. A truly ‘where were you when it happened’ passage of Test cricket against the Bazballers. However, despite being present at the venue, Mohammed Siraj was unable to witness the onslaught from the 22-year-old.

“I didn’t see as I was taking a massage then (smiles). Will go now and see that,” the pacer would comedically respond in the press conference at the end of the day’s play.

It was an understandable explaination as Siraj had been at the forefront of India’s wickets share earlier in the day, snapping a 4-fer.

Furthermore complementing his young Indian teammate, Siraj added, “Jaiswal is very high on confidence. He has already hit a double hundred. Peeche nahi dekh raha hai..aage chal raha hai (He’s not looking back).”

England’s Ben Duckett, who had had his share of boundary barrage in Rajkot, also kept his humor intact while talking about India’s left-handed opener.

“When you see players from opposition playing like this I feel we should get some credit for it,” Duckett would smilingly suggest before adding, “Exciting to see him play aggressive cricket. He looks an incredible player and unfortunately, he is in great form!”

Unbeaten at 104 off 133 deliveries, Jaiswal’s outing on Saturday was cut short after he retired hurt owing to back spasms.
