It was West Indies’ first-ever win on the Australian soil in 27 years. West Indies haven’t won a Test in Australia since they enjoyed a 10-wicket success on a cracked-up WACA Ground pitch in Perth in February 1997.

“It is amazing for me, you know, I just want to turn this way to give a shout-out to my teammates and the management staff for great words of encouragement. Having a bruised toe to bowl with, but I just go through the phase and pain, knowing that I need to do this for my team and you know for everyone in my country and the Caribbean,” said Joseph after the game.

Joseph was retired hut on Day 3 after being struck by a ripping yorker from Mitchell Starc. later West Indies Cricket posted a statement on X giving Joseph’s injury update. “Good news, as scans show no fracture in Shamar Joseph’s toe. He will continue to be monitored by the medical team and assessed tomorrow. WI wish him a speedy recovery!”

Joseph also won the Player Of the Series award for picking 13 wickets from two games at an average of 17.31.
