Prithvi Shaw declared fit, to play Ranji Trophy for Mumbai

Opening batsman Prithvi Shaw has been cleared for fitness by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and will play Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy game against Bengal in Kolkata from February 2. Shaw has been on the sidelines because of a knee injury and will be playing a competitive game after six months.

Shaw had injured his knee in August while playing a one-day game for Northamptonshire. He was in fine touch after making 244 and 125 not out before injury struck.

“He has been declared fit and can take part in the Ranji Trophy games. The BCCI has informed the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) about it,” a BCCI official confirmed.

Shaw has been batting in the practice nets at the NCA in Bengaluru. An MRI had revealed that Shaw had grade-II tear of posterior cruciate ligament.

Shaw has played five Tests, six ODIs and one T20I so far for India since having made his senior team debut back in 2018.
