These muscles big enough for him? Kraigg Brathwaite slams Rodney Hogg for calling West Indies cricket team ‘pathetic’ and ‘hopeless’

Kraigg Brathwaite slammed former Australia pacer Rodney Hogg by calling West Indies cricket team “pathetic” and questioning their intent after their 10-wicket loss in the first Test.

Shamar Joseph’s heroics helped West Indies beat Australia by eight runs at Gabba. Joseph picked 7 for 68, and helped West Indies register their first Test victory in Australia soil in 27 years.

“Let’s not beat around the bush: They were hopeless (in Adelaide),” Hogg told 10 News last week.

“We should have two divisions now. We can’t have these weak sides coming out here.

“Mitchell Starc with a brand new pink ball, he’s going to run straight through them (at the Gabba). So I wouldn’t think the game would go any further than three days. They’re pathetic.

"Mr Rodney Hogg said we were pathetic and hopeless. So that was our inspiration, we wanted to show the world we are not pathetic.

"And I must ask him, are these muscles big enough for him?"

“I look back at the West Indies of old and we’re down stretching on the ground and they’re running past in Speedos and I’m going ‘gee look at their muscles’. These days the West Indies, they’d be running past in overcoats.”

Following West Indies’ win in the second Test, Braithwaite said: “I must say we had two words that inspired us in this test match. Mr Rodney Hogg said we were ‘pathetic’ and ‘hopeless’, so that source was our inspiration. We wanted to show the world we’re not pathetic.”

“And I must ask him: Are these muscles big enough for him?”

When asked about what does this win meant to him, he replied: “It does a lot. It means a lot for us. It’s been a number of years since we won a Test match here.

“My message to the group is this is the beginning. I think it’s amazing and we enjoy this, but this has to continue.”

Joseph, who had to retire hurt after being hit on the toe in the second innings on Saturday night, did not bowl Saturday and only came into the attack 45 minutes into the first session.

“Honestly, he’s a superstar. I know He will do great things for West Indies in the future,” Brathwaite said.
