How often have you seen this? The ball hits the top of the bail, it spins in its groove and yet the batter is not out.

Australian keeper batter Alex Carey got a lifeline despite the aforementioned in the second Test against the West Indies in Brisbane.

Coming in to bat on Friday with Australia five wickets down for just 54, Carey stood in the middle at the score of eight when Shamar Joseph’s delivery deceived him and hit the top of his off stump, so much so that the bail on top of the middle and the off stump spun, and yet wasn’t dislodged. Here’s a video of the freak incident:

Carey went on to score 65 off 49 deliveries as Australia reduced the deficit on Day 2 of the Pink Ball Test.

Earlier, Australia managed to restrict the West Indies to 311 in the first innings after Kavem Hodge, Joshua Da Silva and Kevin Sinclair scored fifties and Alzarri Joseph also added 32 to score the major chunk of the runs for the visitors.

With the ball, the Windies pacers ran through the Australian top order very soon as Kemar Roach nabbed Steve Smith in the first over and went on to snap Cameron Green and Travis Head off consecutive deliveries.
