The Indian cricket team had a special visitor at the Chinnaswamy Stadium nets on Tuesday as keeper-batter Rishabh Pant paid his teammates a visit in Bangalore.

Pant, who’s currently recovering at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) from the injuries he sustained in a road accident a year ago, was seen mingling with captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli among others, ahead of the 3rd T20I against Afghanistan on Wednesday.

The southpaw, attired in t-shirt and shorts, was also seen facing throwdowns from the NCA staff followed by shadow batting in the middle of the venue.

Pant had attended the Delhi Capitals camp in November last year and was also among those present at the franchise’s IPL auction table at Dubai in December.

Sourav Ganguly, the Capitals’ director of cricket, sounded optimistic on Pant’s return to professional cricket.

“He’s (Pant) good now. He will play in the IPL next season. There’s still time for him to get down to practice. By January (2024), he’ll get even better,” Ganguly had said during DC’s camp at Jadavpur University Salt Lake Campus.

Pant had last donned the Indian colors back in December 2022 during a Test match against Bangladesh in Mirpur – scoring 93 as the visitors emerged victorious by three wickets.
