Shakib-Al-Hassan has always been someone who has expressed his anger on the field in the past. And on Sunday during the first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh, he was unhappy with the time Pakistan batter Mohammad Rizwan was getting ready to face the delivery.

Shakib displaying his frustration threw the ball in anger at the strikers-end. The umpire intervened and questioned the Bangladesh all-rounder’s attitude after the throw. The following ball Rizwan tucked him for a single through leg-side to which the left-arm spinner reacted with a loud groan.

Not the first time

In 2021 during Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Abahani Limited. Shakib appealed for a leg before wicket against Mushfiqur Rahim and when denied, he kicked the stumps followed by a heated exchange with the umpire.

This was not a one-off incident as Shakib argued with the umpire once again in the powerplay overs. This time he uprooted all three stumps on the non-striker’s end, threw them on the ground and continued arguing with the umpire.

“Enough is enough for me and I don’t want to do umpiring anymore. I have some self-respect and want to live with it. Umpires can make mistakes but if we are treated in this manner, there is no point in doing it anymore because I am not in it just for the money,” Moniruzzaman told Cricbuzz at the time.

On another occasion during a T20 World Cup between Pakistan and Bangladesh in 2022 was unhappy with an LBW decision. Shakib Al Hasan skipped down the track, missed the flick, and was hit on the sole of his boot. The umpire had given him out lbw. He immediately went for the DRS however he was deemed out by technology.

Shakib refused to go. He is asked to go by the umpires. He dawdles for a few steps but then came back. Now the other umpire asked him to go. And off he trudged away. On another instance Shakib wailed, flung his cap down to the ground during Bangladesh’s fielding innings.
