Nathan Lyon eyes redemption against India in Border-Gavaskar series

Australia’s last series win against India was 10 years ago Down Under in the 2014/15 summmer. Since the 2-0 Aussies could not manage to beat India both home and away. The Men In Blue later this year will tour Australia for a five-match Test series and off-spinner Nathan Lyon says there is “unfinished business.”

“It’s been 10 years of unfinished business. It’s been a long time,” Lyon said as quoted by Cricket.com.au. “I know I’m extremely hungry to turn things around and make sure we get that trophy back, that’s for sure. I often reflect on a lot of series and where we potentially could have done better, even when we win series,” he said.

“I feel that’s incredibly important in your learning, to be able to sit back and reflect and understand what you did well and what you didn’t do well. There are a few things that I feel like we can do (differently). I feel like we’re a different team to a couple of years ago and on a journey to becoming a great Australian cricket team. We’re definitely not there, but we’re along that journey,” Lyon further added.

Lyon also lauded skipper Pat Cummins: “I think with a bowling captain as well, he can be a lot smarter in that regard in terms of maybe throwing the ball to Travis Head for an over here or there and Cameron Green and Mitch Marsh. We’ve got a lot of extra bowlers there as well.”

Cummins would also be voacal about not being able to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. “It’s the trophy I haven’t won before… this is the one trophy a lot of our group haven’t ticked off,” Cummins said on Fox Sports. “We’ve achieved some amazing things over the last few years as a Test group. You kind of back yourself to win every series at home. I think you need to try and be up there in the upper echelon of teams.”
