The finish line is in sight for the Indian contingent in Paris and that means, events start to thin down. But there is still hope for the medal tally to be improved as Aman Sehrawat is one win away from winning the bronze medal in men’s 57kg wrestling. The boy from Chhatrasal got to Paris in place of Ravi Dahiya, and now he will have to step up to make sure India’s run of winning a wrestling medal since 2008 doesn’t end in Paris.

Here’s a look at the schedule for Friday:

ATHLETICS
Men’s & Women’s 4x400m Relay Heats: 2.10 pm onwards

Indian athletics followers tend to always get excited when 4x400m relays come around the corner. The men’s team, especially, come into Paris 2024 with a reputation to uphold after their Worlds performances last year.

GOLF
Women’s Individual Round 3: 12.30 pm
Aditi Ashok, Diksha Dagar

Aditi Ashok finished Round 2 with a 1-under par overall, recovering after a poor start with a series of birdies. Diksha Dagar is also 1-under Par overall. The top three however started to pull away so both Indians need extraordinary rounds to put themselves in contention.

WRESTLING
Men’s Freestyle 57kg Bronze match: 10.45 pm
Aman Sehrawat

After Ravi Dahiya’s silver in Tokyo, Aman has a shot to win a medal in the same category in Paris as well. He had two impressive tech wins to reach the semis but was outplayed by Higuchi in the semifinal. But all is not lost yet.

Men’s Freestyle 57kg bronze medal match: Aman vs Darian Toi Cruz

Rhythmic Gymnastics: 6pm
Individual all-around final
It is now the only all-female sport in the Summer Games. The event blends traditional dance and artistic gymnastics using four apparatus: ribbon, hoop, ball, and clubs. Music, including vocal tracks, significantly enhances performances.

Marathon Swimming: 11 am
Men’s 10km
More than the participants, it’s the quality of the water of the Seine river that’s in the limelight. And all eyes will be on that in the swimming marathon event.

Table Tennis: 6.30pm
Men’s Team final
Swede Truls Moregard stunned the world by reaching the men’s final in singles. He lost, but has a chance at redemption as Sweden take on China in the team final.

Football: 9.30pm
France vs Spain
Thierry Henry’s team will bank on home support as France take on Spain in what should be a thrilling final.

Athletics: 11pm
Women’s 4x100m Relay Final
With 41.94, USA had the fastest time in qualifying and the 2023 world champions will want to win this. Defending Olympic champions Jamaica qualified fifth-fastest with their season-best of 42.35. It should be interesting finish.

Hockey: 11.30pm
Women’s Gold medal match
Alyson Annan, China’s coach, was a legendary player for Australia before going on to coach Netherlands. After knocking Australia out, she now faces a former side again but the Dutch start favourites.
