India at Paris Olympics 2024, Day 13 schedule: Neeraj Chopra eyes historic 2nd medal, men’s hockey team look to repeat Tokyo bronze

Just three years and one day after his incredible gold medal at Tokyo 2020, Neeraj Chopra will be back to defend his title in Paris. This time around though the field promises to be packed with potential contenders for the podium, and the competition promises to be close.

Also a little over three years after their famous bronze in Tokyo, the Indian men’s hockey team will have to pick themselves back up after a semifinal heartbreak, to get ready for another 3rd-place battle. Spain stand in their way.

Wrestling action continues with Aman Sehrawat and Anshu Malik, while golfers Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar will look to keep themselves in the mix in golf.

Here’s a look at the schedule for Thursday:

ATHLETICS
Men’s Javelin Throw final: 11.55 pm
Neeraj Chopra

Like he did in Tokyo, Neeraj finished top of the qualifiers pile, registering an impressive 89.34 with his first and only throw. As the reigning Olympic and World Champion all Indian eyes will once again be on the star athlete.

HOCKEY
Men’s Hockey Bronze medal match: 5.30 pm
India vs Spain

Harmanpreet Singh and Co looked heartbroken after their semifinal defeat against Germany, but have a chance to repeat their feat in Tokyo. Spain, who knocked out Belgium in the quarterfinals, won’t be pushovers.

ATHLETICS
Women’s 100mH Repechage: 2.05 pm
Jyothi Yarraji

After consistently dipping below 13 seconds in the last year or so, Jyothi didn’t have the best of heats on her Olympic debut. But under new athletics rules, she gets at least one more chance through repechage to try and improve her Personal Best.

GOLF
Women’s Individual Round 2: 12.30 pm
Aditi Ashok, Diksha Dagar

Both Aditi and Diksha started their first rounds really well, before a couple of costly late errors saw them slip up. Still, with Diksha 1 under per, and Aditi on par, they remain in the mix as golf action enters 2nd of 4 rounds.

WRESTLING
Men’s Freestyle 57kg: 2.30 pm (R16 through to SF on the same day)
Aman Sehrawat

India’s only male wrestler in Paris has big boots to fill. After Ravi Dahiya’s silver in Tokyo, Aman will look to bring some cheer back to the Indian wrestling contingent.

Anshu Malik

To make her 2nd Olympic appearance, Anshu Malik had to get past Sarita Mor in the domestic trials. After the heartbreaks for Vinesh and Antim, can the youngster step up? She faces a tough ask against an American wrestler right away.
