India won their second medal at the ongoing Paris Olympics on Tuesday as shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh clinched the bronze in the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event.

The Indian duo edged South Korea’s Wonho Lee and Jin Ye Oh 16-10 to record India’s second medal of the Games, following Bhaker’s bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol.

Manu Bhaker thus became the first shooter from India to win two Olympic medals, and the first Indian athlete in history to win two medals at the same Olympic Games.

Sarabjot Singh is now the sixth shooter from India to win a medal at the Olympics. His partner Manu Bhaker had become the fifth Indian shooter to win an Olympics medal earlier.

This has already been a trailblazing Olympic Games for Manu Bhaker. In the 10m air pistol event a few days back, Manu Bhaker had become the 1st woman shooter from India to reach an Olympic final in an individual event in the last 20 years! The last time an Indian woman shooter had reached the final, it was Suma Shirur, who had blazed a trail into the final of the 10m air rifle event at the Athens Olympics held in Greece’s capital in 2004.
