Sail Grand Prix has formally withdrawn from its hosting agreement with Christchurch for the 2025 event at Lyttelton Harbour.

This year's event proved a triumph for the NZ 'Black Foils', who currently lead the international series, but was also marred by dolphins on the course, which saw a full day of racing cancelled.

SailGP boss and former America's Cup hero Sir Russell Coutts was furious at the restrictions that prevented boats from contesting the opening three races as scheduled, vowing Christchurch would not host future events.
