Kia ora, good evening and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of the first Super Rugby Pacific  quarter-final between the Chiefs and Queensland Reds at Hamilton's FMG Stadium Waikato.

After 15 weeks of intense competition, we have reached the first knockout game of the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season. This match up sees the fourth placed Chiefs take on the fifth placed Queensland Reds in what is expected to be one of the most competitive quarter-final games.  

The Reds beat the Chiefs in Queensland during round three of the 2024 season and enter this game on the back of two wins in a row. Meanwhile, the Chiefs suffered back-to-back losses in their final two games, losing to both the Blues and Hurricanes.  

However, history is still against the Reds. No Australian Super Rugby team has ever won a finals clash across the ditch, a jaw-dropping stat in the competition's history. Les Kiss and the Reds will be looking to break 28-year hoo-doo in Hamilton.
