IPL 2024 Orange Cap update: Travis Head remains on the heels of Virat Kohli after early dismissal vs KKR

IPL 2024 Orange Cap Holder: Sunrisers Hyderabad’s swashbuckling opener Travis Head didn’t last much long during their Qualifier 1 against the Kolkata Knight Riders and was cleaned up by Mitchell Starc off the second delivery. Being dismissed without troubling the scorecard means Head remains third in the IPL 2024 run scoring tally behind Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Kohli made a steady contribution with the bat as he extended his lead in the Orange Cap race with 47 runs in the must-win clash against the Chennai Super Kings on Saturday. The former RCB skipper currently has 708 runs to his name from 14 outings and will be in action on Wednesday against Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator. So will be Rajasthan Royals’ Riyan Parag, who is fourth in the tally.

Also among the top run scorers is Gujarat Titans’ Sai Sudharsan, who notched 527 runs this season.

Every year when the Indian Premier League (IPL) season comes around, a lot of eyes are on the players who score the most number of runs in the season, thereby getting the Orange Cap.

Last season, current Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill won the Orange Cap with 890 runs. He was followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis who scored 730 and Chennai Super Kings Devon Conway with 672. RCB’s Virat Kohli was at number 4 with 639 while Yashasvi Jaiswal came in at 5 with 625.
