IPL 2024 Orange Cap update: Virat Kohli extends lead during RCB vs DC match

IPL 2024 Orange Cap Holder: Royal Challengers Bengaluru opener Virat Kohli extended his domination in the leading run-scorers list of the season during the match against Delhi Capitals on Sunday.

Kohli chipped in with a quickfire 27 off 13 balls as he moved to 661 runs after 13 matches. This is his second-best season ever in the IPL after the 2016 edition where he notched up 973 runs.

On Friday, Gujarat Titans’ Sai Sudharsan moved up into the 4th position in the race after recording his maiden IPL hundred.

Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Travis Head had climbed third in the most runs tally for the season as he scored a blistering 89 against the Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday.

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson is in the 5th spot after his 86 off 46 balls against Delhi Capitals in a knock laced with eight fours and six maximums.

Every year when the Indian Premier League (IPL) season comes around, a lot of eyes are on the players who score the most number of runs in the season, thereby getting the Orange Cap.

Last season, current Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill won the Orange Cap with 890 runs. He was followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis who scored 730 and Chennai Super Kings Devon Conway with 672. RCB’s Virat Kohli was at number 4 with 639 while Yashasvi Jaiswal came in at 5 with 625.
