IPL 2024 points table update: CSK stuck at fourth, Punjab jump a spot after win at Chepauk

IPL Points Table 2024, Team Rankings: Punjab Kings registered a seven-wicket win against the Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. It was the fourth win for the 2014 finalists this season, taking them a spot above from eighth to seventh, toppling Gujarat Titans.

Defending champions CSK on the other hand, remained fourth after their fifth loss of the season from 10 games.

Also among the top four are the Kolkata Knight Riders, who sit second with six wins from nine games and Lucknow Super Giants, who jumped to the third spot after the win against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday.

Rajasthan Royals lead the chart with 16 points from nine matches while Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at the bottom of the 10-team points table with six points. Punjab and Gujarat are in the 7th and 8th position after their respective matches.

The playoff scenario

RR, KKR, LSG and CSK are the four sides that are currently in the top four. The top four teams will qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs. The top two teams will play in the first Qualifier with the winner going straight into the final. The Eliminator will be played between the teams who are placed third and fourth in the IPL 2024 standings. The winner of the Eliminator will lock horns against the losing team of Qualifier 1. The winner of the Qualifier  2 will enter the final, which will be held at May 26.
